Tiger Woods Injury Forces Withdrawal From Players Championship 2011

On Thursday, Tiger Woods’ start to the 2011 Players Championship was an abysmal one. He shot a terrible 6-over through the front nine at TPC Sawgrass, which put him at the very bottom of the leaderboard. And now, we may have an explanation for his play: citing multiple injuries, Woods has announced his withdrawal from the tournament. The Golf Channel’s Jason Sobel tweets:

Breaking news: Tiger Woods withdraws after nine holes at The Players Championship, citing multiple injuries after shooting 6-over 42.

We don’t yet know the nature of Woods’ injuries, but this certainly brings back memories of his outing at the 2010 Players Championship, from which he also withdrew. That time, Woods, a noted golf enthusiast, stopped play due to a bulging disc.
