Tiger Woods Withdraws From Players Championship, Says He’s Having ‘Hard Time Walking’

On Thursday, Tiger Woods made an effort to play through injury, but after posting an alarmingly bad front-nine score, it appears as though his decision to withdraw from the Players Championship. After leaving the course at TPC Sawgrass, the noted golf enthusiast spoke on the nature of his leg ailments.

“The knee acted up, then the Achilles followed after that then the calf started cramping up,” said Woods, who was 6 over after making three bogeys and a triple bogey.

“I’m having a hard time walking,” Woods said.

Woods also remarked that he had felt “good” during warm-ups, and that his injuries grew worse and worse as he progressed through the front nine. He declined to speculate on how long he’ll need to rest to allow his injuries to recover.

The injuries are to Woods’ left leg, which has undergone four different surgeries over the course of his career.
