If you were hoping to settle in with the third round of The Players Championship on this slow Saturday afternoon in sports, you can’t be happen with the rain delay at TPC Sawgrass.
Players Championship: Rain Delays Third Round For Inclement Weather
Thunderstorms swept much of northern Florida around noon on Saturday, including the Jacksonville area. That includes Ponte Vedra Beach, where TPC Sawgrass is located, and it’s halted play in the middle of the third round at The Players Championship.
Because of the rain, and the time it will take to dry greens and so forth, it’s going to be a long night for the players, many of whom have yet to take the course. Jason Dufner and Paul Goydos, scheduled to tee off at 1:06 p.m. Eastern, still haven’t hit their first tee shots of Saturday, and leader David Toms has already missed his 2:45 p.m. tee time.
