Play has now been suspended for well over an hour at TPC Sawgrass, and Players Championship officials have announced that fans’ Saturday tickets will be good for Sunday. However, they say in the same statement that they expect third-round play to resume Saturday.
Players Championship Weather Update: Officials Expect Play To Resume At TPC Sawgrass
The weather forecast in the Jacksonville is an uncertain one. Through 8 p.m. ET, thunderstorms are likely to be somewhere in the general area. Here is what The Weather Channel’s radar map looks like as of 4:30 p.m.:
A big, nasty storm, to be sure, but the worst of it seems to have passed the course (represented by the red marker here). If play doesn’t resume soon, there will be something as a time crunch, as most of the golfers on the top of the leaderboard -- including tournament leader David Toms -- have yet to tee off.
Among those who have been able to hit the course Saturday, the best round is being had by Peter Hanson. The Swede is 7-under through 16 holes, and has managed to vault 53 spots up the leaderboard to rise into a tie for seventh place.
