Players Championship Leaderboard: Graeme McDowell Enters Final Round With Lead

After a rain-soaked Saturday pockmarked by a five-hour weather delay, the Players Championship is finally finished with its third round, which stretched into Sunday morning. And Graeme McDowell took advantage of the break to take the lead heading into Sunday afternoon’s fourth and final round.

McDowell shot a 4-under 68 in the third round to move to 12-under for the Players Championship, and holds a one-shot lead over K.J. Choi and David Toms.

McDowell managed his 68, tied for third-best third round score, despite a blowup on his 18th hole. He had taken a three-shot lead after a birdie on the 17th, but plunked an approach shot into the water on the 18th, eventually making double bogey.

Had McDowell merely made par, he would have tied Peter Hanson’s third round 66 for the best mark at TPC Sawgrass this weekend.
