Crowne Plaza Invitational Leaderboard: David Toms Regains Lead As Charlie Wi Fades

Just when it looked like Charlie Wi had started to put pull away from David Toms in the final round of the 2011 Crowne Plaza Invitational, things stopped falling Wi’s way. After making birdie on the first two holes to go 15-under, Wi is shooting par for the day and is three strokes behind David Toms’ 16-under.

Wi had two difficult stretches on the course so far. In the front nine, Wi bogeyed the fourth and sixth holes, while sinking birdie on the fifth. He then ran into that same trouble to start the back nine, bogeying the 10th and 12th holes, but making birdie on the 11th.

Toms, meanwhile, broke through on the par-4 seventh hole with a birdie. His biggest play of the day so far came on the 11th hole, which he made eagle to reach 15-under. He added another birdie three holes later. He and Wi are currently through 14 holes.
