After the third round of the Wells Fargo Championship, the leader makes some sense: it’s a Byrd that is on top at Quail Hollow.
Wells Fargo Championship Update: Jonathan Byrd Goes Low In Third Round To Take Lead
Jonathan Byrd shot a 5-under 67 on Saturda, to move to 15-under for the tournament and take a one-shot lead on Pat Perez. Byrd’s 67 is his third round in the 60s at the Wells Fargo this week.
Perez shot a 2-under 70 to move to 14-under for the tournament stay close to the lead that he owned at the beginning of Saturday. Stewart Cink and Lucas Glover are tied for third at 12-under.
Byrd’s back nine was his difference-making stretch: after playing the front nine in even par, Byrd rolled in five birdies and made no bogeys on the way in, vaulting up the leaderboard in the process.
