VIDEO: NBC Skips ‘Under God’ In 2011 U.S. Open Final Round Intro

UPDATE: NBC has since apologized.

↵With the 2011 U.S. Open so close to the nation’s capital at Congressional Golf Club in Maryland, NBC has been draping its coverage of the event in the American flag all week. On Sunday, it backfired when an introduction to final round coverage included some of the Pledge of Allegiance but not the words “under God.”

↵

↵This being the Internet, critics got their dander up nice and quick. And while NBC’s yet to respond to the criticism, one thinks that the network might consider not wading into the Pledge minefield with future intros.
