Frys.com Open leaderboard: Jhonattan Vegas leads after opening-round 66

Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas is the leader at CordeValle Golf Club after finishing the day 6-under.

The first day of play is underway at the Frys.com Open at CordeValle Golf Club and Jhonattan Vegas is atop the leaderboard after firing an opening round 6-under, 65.

The Venezuelan Vegas is trailed by Charles Howell III, who is in the clubhouse with a 5-under, 66. Jeff Maggert finished the day at 4-under and is tied with John Mallinger and Patrick Cantlay for third place. That trio is trailed by four golfers at 3-under.

2012 US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love finished the day with a 2-under 69, and is tied for ninth place with ten golfers, including Brian Gay, Scott Curtis and Ben Dunlap.

Vijay Singh shot an opening round 70 to finish at 1-under on the day and joing a slew of golfers tied for 20th, including Rocco Mediate, Stuart Appleby, Jonas Blixt, Nicolas Colsaerts, and Australia’s Rod Pampling.
