World Golf Rankings 2012: Louis Oosthuizen rises after playoff loss

Louis Oosthuizen’s third-hole playoff loss at the Barclays Singapore Open puts him at No. 6 in the World Golf Rankings, while Rory McIlroy’s third-place finish just puts him further into first place.

Rory McIlroy moved higher into his top spot in the World Golf Rankings with a third-place finish at the Barclays Singapore Open on the European Tour.

The majority of the world’s top 10 golfers didn’t play in any events this weekend, but those who did were on display and performed well in Singapore. Louis Oosthuizen moved up four spots from No. 10 to No. 6 on account of his second-place finish, losing the tournament on an eagle putt by Matteo Manassero on a third playoff hole. The finish was Oosthuizen’s fourth straight in the top 10 of a tournament. Adam Scott prevented Oosthuizen from moving up even higher, going from sixth to fifth by tying for fifth in a tournament he’d won three times before. Falling slightly to replace the pair of players in action were Justin Rose, Jason Dufner, and Webb Simpson, who are now at Nos. 7, 8, and 10.
