With the best round of the day for the second day in a row, Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa set a 36-hole record and has a commanding lead after two days at the World Golf Championship in Guangdong, China.

The South African tied a record with a 63 on Friday and set a new 36-hole record to take a commanding lead over the field at the World Golf Championship.

His nine-under-par performance on Friday tied the record for the best score in tournament history as Oosthuizen hit eight birdies and eagled the 566-yard hole seven. His sole flub of the day came on hole two, as he finished with a bogey on the shortest hole of the course.
Remarkably, Oosthuizen wasn’t the only one that finished with a course-record score of 63 on Friday, as fellow-South African Ernie Els also finished nine-under for the day. Els finishes the first two days in a tie for second with Australian Adam Scott, each five strokes behind Oosthuizen.
After entering the day in a tie for third, Phil Mickelson dropped on the leaderboard to a tie for sixth after a double bogey on the final hole of the round. Had he managed par on hole 18, Mickelson would have been in a three-way tie for the second spot on the leaderboard, but instead sits in a tie with Dustin Johnson.
