On Thursday, the PGA of America will announce the next United States Ryder Up captain for 2014 on NBC’s “Today” show. According to numerous reports, former captain and golf legend Tom Watson will be chosen. If true, and everything on the internet is obviously true, fellow nominee Larry Nelson is left to determine why he didn’t get the nod.

With reports that Tom Watson will be named the next U.S. Ryder Cup captain in 2014, nominee Larry Nelson is left to eat sour grapes.

In fact, Nelson has been left asking himself why he didn’t even get a phone call from the PGA of America. According to the Golf Channel, a third nominee -- David Toms -- was also never contacted to gauge his interest in the position. Did the PGA of America really go in to this next Ryder Cup with only one man in mind?
Nelson turned to Twitter to confirm that he was never contacted by Ted Bishop, head of the PGA.
The PGA nor Ted Bishop have contacted me, and It angers me that they have stated otherwise.

Nelson’s name seems to come up in the U.S. captaincy conversation on a bi-annual basis. To date, the former Masters winner and Ryder Cup player has never been chosen to lead the American squad despite support from many current players and past captains.
