Rory McIlroy did not play over the weekend, but he remains on top of the latest World Golf Rankings by a pretty healthy margin. Several members of the top 10 did participate in the World Challenge presented by Northwestern Mutual at Sherwood Country Club, which did create a few minor shakeups in the rankings.
World Golf Rankings 2012: Idle Rory McIlroy holds strong at No. 1
Rory McIlroy remains on top of the latest World Golf Rankings despite not playing over the weekend. Several of the top 10 golfers did play in the World Challenge, which was won by Graeme McDowell.


Graeme McDowell took home the World Challenge trophy with a a score of -17, posting a three-stroke victory over Keegan Bradley. The win was McDowell’s first in two years and moved him from No. 24 to No. 14 in the rankings. Tiger Woods finished tied-fourth at -9 and held at No. 3 in the rankings.
Brandt Snedeker and Webb Simpson flip-flopped spots in the rankings, with Snedeker moving from No. 10 to No. 9 and Simpson from No. 9 to No. 10. This happened despite Simpson finishing with a better score at the World Challenge. Jason Dufner held at No. 8, although he had a worse score at the World Challenge than both Snedeker and Simpson.
Louis Oosthuizen and Adam Scott switched spots, with Oosthuizen risking from No. 7 to No. 5 and Scott falling from No. 5 to No. 7.
