While most of the golf world’s eyeballs are pointed towards Arizona for the 2012 Accenture Match Play Championship, the Mayakoba Golf Classic has provided plenty of intrigue so far. Eleven golfers are within four strokes of the lead on Day 3, with Dustin Summerhays holding a one-stroke lead over Kevin Stadler through seven holes.
Mayakoba Golf Classic 2012: Daniel Summerhays Leads Through 7 Holes
Summerhays was in a three-way tie with Will Claxton and Greg Owen, but those two golfers have fallen off somewhat in the front nine. Claxton is only two shots back at even through six holes, but Owen has dropped all the way down into a six-way tie for 12th with bogeys on three of his first six holes.
Stadler is among the biggest movers so far on the day, shooting 3-under through eight holes. Johnson Wagner entered the tournament looking to win his third straight Mayakoba title. He is currently sits in a tie for 46th at 1-over for tournament, however.
