The second round of the 2012 Honda Classic is in the books. Davis Love III entered Friday’s round of play at Palm Beach Gardens with a two-stroke lead over a gaggle of golfers in second place, including Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy and Dicky Pride.

Friday’s second round did not go nearly so well for Love. Just one day after matching the course record by going 6-under for a score of 64, he double-bogeyed on hole five and picked up additional bogeys on holes six and 17. He managed just two birdies on the day, on holes 16 and 18, and finished 2-over. His cumulative 4-under after the second round knots him with six other golfers in 11th place, including Ben Crane.

Tom Gillis was the golfer with the big day on Friday, shooting his own 6-under round of 64 to match the same record Love had during Thursday’s round. His 6-under shoots him into a tie for first place with Justin Rose, both with 8-under after the second round. Rose shot a solid 4-under for the second day in a row and along with Gillis holds a one-stroke lead heading into round three.

Right behind Gillis and Rose are McIroy and Pride, both at 7-under. Tied at 6-under are Brian Harman, Jimmy Walker and Vaughn Taylor.

Tiger Woods is playing fairly middling golf through the first two rounds. Woods also double-bogeyed on hole five and bogeyed on hole 14. He shot 2-under in the second round and is currently tied for 31st at 1-under with a slew of other players.
