After weather at TPC San Antonio significantly delayed play on Friday, the third round is underway for a long Saturday of golf at the Valero Texas Open. Ben Curtis is currently at 8-under and continues to lead Matt Every by two shots. The course is playing tough, and with the wind up in the San Antonio area, no one has been able to make a charge up the leaderboard. Luckily for everyone else, Curtis blew up on the par-5 eighth hole, dropping two shots to come back to the field a bit.
Valero Texas Open 2012: Ben Curtis Maintains 2-Shot Lead, Matt Kuchar Moving Up
Matt Kuchar, the most notable and highest-profile player in the field, shot a miserable 76 in the second round, but has responded nicely with six birdies and a 5-under third round through 17 holes. He is now at 3-under for the tournament, five shots back of Curtis. American and Cinderella 2012 story John Huh also made a third-round push with a 5-under 67 that has him four shots off the lead.
Curtis and Every still have the back nine to convert some birdies and try to put a little more distance between them and the rest of the field. But with the course playing the way it has on Saturday, they could come back to the pack, opening things up for Kuchar and company.
