Louis Oosthuizen Tops 2012 Masters Leaderboard Through Ten, Phil Mickelson Continues to Confuse

Louis Oosthuizen has the lead as the final group is halfway home at 8-under, but his lead has been cut to one after a bogey on the tenth. Seven golfers remain within three of the lead.

Oosthuizen played conservatively to string together five straight pars after a bogey on the fourth to close out his back nine, but a misplayed approach shot left the South African needing two tough shots to stay at 9-under. Instead, he missed a ten-footer to drop a stroke and reduced his lead over Bubba Watson and Peter Hanson to one stroke. Matt Kuchar could’ve putted for par on the ninth to remain two off the lead, but missed from less than eight feet twice before tapping in, putting himself at 5-under with a three-putt. Ian Poulter and Padraig Harrington join Kuchar three strokes off the lead.

Phil Mickelson seemed to be in bad shape after his hilarious triple bogey earlier, but an unconventional decision to use the driver off of the fairway on eight put him just off the fringe of the green after a friendly roll, allowing him to bogey. He then followed that up with a drive into the fans, but he played a slice off the mulch to put him just off of the green to save par. He’s just two off the lead.
