Butch Harmon Close To Retirement, Preparing To Release Monster Instructional DVD Series

Golf-instructor-extraordinaire Butch Harmon - whose students have included the likes of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and numerous other PGA TOUR stars - is finally thinking about retiring at the age of 69. But before quits work to spend his days... um, playing golf I guess... Harmon is preparing to release one monster series of instructional DVDs for all of us to enjoy.

According to an article in today’s New York Times, the series will reportedly include 57 chapters and over 250 golf tips to players of all abilities.

"I've done other DVDs in the past, but this was going to be the last big thing I was going to do," Harmon said. "I wanted to do something with a lot of substance for everybody. The game plan was smaller than it turned out, but as got into it, I just wanted to be able to touch every golfer. We literally went through the gamut of everything that could happen to you when you play golf."

What is most impressive about this series in that many of Harmon's students from yesteryear agreed to appear in the DVDs to offer their own stories and tips. Yes, even Tiger makes an appearance in one of the chapters.

As far as his reasoning behind finally making the decision to retire? Just like most long-time workers, Harmon is running out of gas.

"I'm tired," Harmon said. "When you get tired, your attention span isn't as good as it used to be. I'm a workaholic. I put 110 percent effort into everything. Once I get to the point where I don't care, it's not good. I'm not there yet, but it's coming."
