Tiger Woods Swears He’s “Close” To Contending Each Week. Really.

Another golf tournament, another Tiger Woods press conference, and another round of insisting that “everything is going according to plan” for the former World #1. The more things chance, the more they stay the same. If only Tiger saw that much in his own game, of course.

It seems nowadays Tiger is defending his swing coach Sean Foley more often than defending golf tournament championships. Such was the case - again - during Woods’ press conference at Congressional Country Club where the golfer’s AT&T National will take place June 28 - July 1.

“I think I’m headed in the right direction,” Woods told reporters. “I’m going to try and continue to improve in incremental steps in every facet of my game and try to make every facet of my game more efficient.”

Yeah Tiger, we get that. We understand you want to continuously improve your game. What golfer doesn’t? But even the most desperate of weekend hackers know when a change is needed in philosophy or technique. Is it so difficult to admit that perhaps you aren’t catching on to Foley’s instructional premise?

Fire. Sean. Foley.

It very well may be just that simple.
