I get it: You want to be funny. You so desperately want to draw a laugh or be heard on television that you’re willing to make a fool of yourself. But please, for the love of everything, stop yelling stupid things at famous people during golf tournaments.

Maybe it’s just the nature of golf tournaments, especially majors. Large crowds, television cameras and a little bit of liquid courage just breeds stupidity.
And you, sir, yelling “GET IN THE HOLE” after a tee shot on a 670-yard par-5 ... you are not original. You’re not a beautiful and unique snowflake who just made a funny. You are, in fact, an idiot, just like everyone else screaming “GET IN THE HOLE” at every single golf tournament.
Perhaps it was funny at some point. We’re way past that point, though. Now, it’s annoying for those in attendance and the people watching on television.
While we’re at it, can we please end the whole “Let’s yell Discount Doublecheck” at Aaron Rodgers thing? Rodgers was out enjoying the U.S. Open on Friday, walking along with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson. And on every single hole, he was serenaded by “ROOODGERS” and “DISCOUNT DOUBLECHECK” by fans quoting his State Farm commercial.
It wasn’t funny the first time, despite bros slapping each other on the back. Just like the bros that came before them. And the ones that came before them, as well. Or the 10 on the hole before and the 15 on the par-5 a hole later.
The lesson in all of this is simple: Stop yelling stupid things at famous people. Let them go about their business on the course or enjoy their time watching the sport off it.
