It’s been a rough front nine for Tiger Woods, but he has finished the first half of his Saturday at the 2012 U.S. Open on a positive note.
US Open 2012: Tiger Woods Birdies 9th Hole, Still 2 Shots Back
After he hit a poor tee shot into the left rough on the 9th hole, Woods hit an exceptional second shot, muscling the ball out of some serious cabbage to knock it onto the green. He then sunk a long birdie putt with his third stroke on the hole, taking him to two-over par on the day. He trails his playing partner Jim Furyk by two strokes.
Woods bogeyed four holes on the front nine, with his worst coming on the 8th hole. Woods had a reasonable, if difficult, shot at birdie on the hole, then what appeared to be a simple putt for par. He shockingly missed the short par putt, seemingly signaling that it just wasn’t his day. He did recover with a fantastic birdie on the following hole.
