The Hamilton Golf & Country Club in Ancaster, Ontario, was host to the 2012 RBC Canadian Open over the past few days. On Sunday, the final round was played and Scott Piercy was able to have one solid last round, overtaking Robert Garrigus to claim the title.

Garrigus entered Sunday as the leader, thanks in part to a massive 6-under round on Saturday. As the final round began, Garrigus was in the lead at 16-under, William McGirt was in second at 15-under and Piercy was in third at 14-under. At the end of the day, Garrigus was still at 16-under, but it wasn’t quite enough to net the win.

Piercy shot 3-under for the day, scoring four straight birdies at the beginning of his day on holes two through five. Piercy bogeyed on holes eight and 14, putting him at 16-under and tied with Garrigus. Garrigus, meanwhile, made par on every hole until finally scoring a birdie on 14, moving him back into the lead at 17-under, but bogeyed on hole 16. Piercy managed one last birdie on hole 15 to reclaim a one-stroke lead and Garrigus was unable to tie the rest of the way.

McGirt shot 1-under for the day, finishing in a tie for second place with Garrigus.
