2012 Barclays 1st Round Leaderboard: Harrington Hangs Onto Lead
At the end of Thursday’s first day of the PGA playoffs at the Bethpage Black course, Americans Nick Watney and Brian Harman remain on the Irishman’s tail at 6-under, while four players are tied at 5-under.
Tiger Woods, who won the 2002 U.S. Open at Bethpage, has kept his name in the conversation with a 3-under 68. His power game was on full display, as Woods’ average drive stands at 306 yards after 18 holes. Two of his four birdies came on par-5 holes.
Like Woods, Phil Mickelson’s 3-under 68 keeps him tied in 14th place. Other notable performances include that of last year’s winner of The Barclays, Dustin Johnson, who sits at 4-under. The world’s top-ranked golfer, Rory McIlroy, is 2-under par and tied in 26th place.
