Deutsche Bank Leaderboard: Louis Oosthuizen In Control, Rory McIlroy Chasing

Louis Oosthuizen will head into the final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship with a three stroke lead over his next closest competition and six strokes clear of third place. The South African shot an 8-under 63 on Sunday to to jump into the lead at TPC Boston.

Oosthuizen was blistering hot to start on Sunday, making birdie on eight of his first 10 holes. That included a stretch from numbers four to 10 in which he made birdie on seven straight holes as he lit up the course with one of the most impressive runs on tour this year. His long bogey of the day came on number 17, but he got that shot back with a birdie on 18 to close out his round.

Rory McIlroy is in second place after shooting a 4-under 67. He made consecutive birdies on holes one and two, but then made bogey on seven for a 35 on the front nine. He picked it up on the back nine with four birdies and four pars to close to within three of Oosthuizen.

Tiger Woods is in a tie for third place with Dustin Johnson at 13-under. He had a steady round with two birdies on the front nine and two more on the back nine, while making just one bogey. Johnson made eight birdies on Sunday to move up the leaderboard, but it is tough to see either Woods or Johnson making up a six strike deficit in the final round.

On a day where seemingly everyone went low, Chris Kirk and Seung-yul Noh proved to be the exceptions. The two were both 9-under to begin the round and shot matching four-over 75’s to fall to a tie for 22nd place.
