With his victory at the Deutsche Bank Championship, Rory McIlroy is the new No. 1 in the FedEx Cup standings. His move from fourth and into first place pushes Nick Watney to second.
FedEx Cup Standings 2012: After Deutsche Bank Rory McIlroy New No. 1, Louis Oosthuizen Vaults To No. 5
Louis Oosthuizen could have beaten McIlroy if it weren’t for his tournament-worst round at TPC Boston on Monday. His second place finish rocketed him from No. 27 to No. 5 in the standings.
Phil Mickelson benefited from his fourth place tie with Dustin Johnson, moving up eight spots to No. 9. Johnson had a modest jump of two spots up to No. 6. Bubba Watson dropped to No. 7, but is right on the heels of Mickelson with only 110 points separating the two.
Tiger Woods stayed at No. 3 after his third place finish, but that wasn’t what everyone was talking about post-tournament. Adding his third place purse of $544,000 to his career cash, Woods became the first golfer in PGA tour history to reach $100 million in winnings.
