Nashville native Brandt Snedeker became a household name on Sunday when he won the PGA’s 2012 FedEx Cup, in the process pocketing the $10 million first prize. Snedeker entered the weekend’s Tour Championship behind Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Nick Watney and Phil Mickelson in the FedEx Cup, but a three-shot victory at the Tour’s final tournament of the year was enough to propel him to the top of the standings.

Snedeker shot a 2-under 68 on Sunday, and had such a large lead heading into the 18th hole that it didn’t matter when he yanked his final tee shot into the grandstands. Snedeker was also one of a handful of golfers to break par on Sunday, with McIlroy, Mickelson, Woods and Watney all shooting far above 70 in the tournament’s final day.
Snedeker also took home $1.4 million solely for winning Sunday’s tournament — the FedEx Cup is based on points tallied by golfers throughout the year. The win on Sunday brought Snedeker’s yearly earnings on the Tour to $14,989,739.
