Jim Furyk and Brandt Snedeker achieved a measure of revenge against Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell in the final match of Saturday morning’s Foursomes at the Ryder Cup. Furyk and Snedeker pulled off a miraculous comeback against the Northern Ireland pair on Friday, coming from three-down on the back side before losing it on the 18th to drop a point. On Saturday, they led wire-to-wire, taking the leadoff hole and never looking back. The win made it back-to-back 3-1 sessions for the Americans and pushed their overall lead to 8-4 through the first three segments.

Jim Furyk and Brandt Snedeker picked up their first point of the Ryder Cup, finishing off a dominating Foursomes session for the US that has them ahead 8-4.

The Americans were steady tee-to-green, taking advantage of an out-of-form McDowell. The Euros cut a two-hole deficit to just one with an impressive birdie on No. 16, but Rory’s birdie putt on the par-3 17th hole burned the edge to keep the Americans 1-up. On No. 18, Furyk, the veteran who has come under intense scrutiny for his lackluster record in the Cup, ripped an approach shot from a fairway bunker to put his partner in prime putting position. Snedeker, who made the team because of his putting, lagged one to within gimme range to seal the 1-up win.
Snedeker and Furyk will now sit down for the afternoon Fourball matches, while McIlroy will team with Ian Poulter to anchor Europe.
