Ryan Moore has put himself in a tie atop the leaderboard at the BMW Championship early Friday with a 4-under on the front nine.

Moore started the day at 6-under, but four birdies have the 29-year old American in a tie for first with Bo Van Pelt and Rory McIlroy. However, Van Pelt and McIlroy have just gotten under way and are sure to score well after strong starts Thursday.
Meanwhile, Vijay Singh is 2-under on the day to put them a stroke back of the leaders. Seung-Yui Noh has had a remarkable six birdies through his first nine holes, but bogeys on 10 and 18 have him at 4-under on the day, putting him in a tie for third two shots back of the lead. He’s tied with Graeme McDowell, who is also 4-under through nine to put him two shots back of his Northern Irish countryman McIlroy.
