Langley is the early-round leader in the year’s second tournament, holding steady at 9-under par following a birdie on his first hole of Friday’s second round. The 23-year old opened with a stellar 8-under 62 in his first round, prompting golf fans to gasp a resounding “WHO?!”

Langley is a native of Manchester, Mo., and a graduate from the University of Illinois, otherwise known as “The Harvard of Champaign-Urbana.” He’s had an impressive amateur career prior to turning pro in 2011, having won the Metropolitan Open Championship in 2008 and 2009. Langley also captured the 2010 Metropolitan Amateur Match Play championship, forever solidifying himself as the king of all things Metropolitan.
In 2010, Langley won the NCAA Individual Championship and is a two-time All-American. Finally, he is also a past winner of the Eisenhower Trophy (2010) and a member of the 2010 Palmer Cup champions. So he’s basically a super hero.
