Frys.com Open 2013 results: Jimmy Walker earns first PGA Tour victory

Walker’s two-stroke victory kicks off a new PGA Tour season.

Jimmy Walker earned his first ever PGA Tour victory with a 5-under 66 in the final round of the Frys.com Open at CordeValle Golf Club. Walker finished the tournament at 17-under, two strokes ahead of Vijay Singh.

Walker was tied at the top with four holes to play before a birdie on No. 15 gave him the outright lead for good. With the win, the 34-year-old secured a trip to next year’s Masters.

It was a rough day for Brooks Koepka, as the 23-year-old folded down the stretch. Koepka had a four-stroke lead with 11 holes to play, but he bogeyed two of the last three holes and finished in a tie for third with Scott Brown, Kevin Na and Hideki Matsuyama.

Singh shot a final-round 68 to earn his runner-up finish.

Walker’s victory kicks off a new season on the PGA Tour, which began in October for the first time in history.
