Tiger Woods was no fan of the “Urkel” nickname his Stanford teammates conferred upon him, but when Presidents Cup partner Matt Kuchar referred to him as Carlton, a similarly nerdy character from Will Smith’s 1990s sitcom, the world No. 1 took it in stride.

After all, the high-five celebration the teammates put into play during their 5 and 4 drubbing of Angel Cabrera and Marc Leishman in Thursday’s four-ball match, which Kuchar admitted was his idea, served as exclamation points to the Americans’ first win of the 2013 edition of the U.S.-vs.-the-world (except for Europe) exhibition.
“It was definitely all me,” Kuchar told Golf Channel after he helped Woods to his Presidents Cup-leading 21st victory. “That stems from ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ and I figured this guy [gesturing to Woods] was a perfect Carlton.”
Woods, whom members of his college golf team joked reminded them of a the dorky, bespectacled Steve Urkel from “Family Matters,” smiled and tipped his cap.
“Thank you very much,” he said.
