Presidents Cup’s Sammy T. Squirrel tweets apology to Tiger Woods

The saga of Sammy has moved to Twitter.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Shortly after Davis Love III released his Presidents Cup good luck charm, “Sammy the Squirrel,” back into the wild Friday, the little varmint apologized to Tiger Woods for intruding on his personal space during Thursday’s four-ball matches with the Internationals -- via Twitter, of course.

Yes, the furry little rodent that wormed its way into assistant captain Love’s heart and pocket (insert “or was he just happy to see ... ” joke here) and that glommed onto Woods’ neck after girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, in what seemed a forced effort to be playful, passed the critter around, has a Twitter account.

In the meantime, back in the semi-real world, the actor who played Carlton Banks on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” tweeted his appreciation to Woods and four-ball partner Matt Kuchar for their hand-slapping homage to the Will Smith 1990s sitcom.

Hey, it’s the Tavistock -- oops -- Presidents Cup.
