The duo of Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar was the first team to win a point at the 2013 Presidents Cup, even as they went out in the second-to-last match of the day on Thursday. They finished first because they dominated their opponents, closing it out on the 14th green for a 5&4 win.

A long rain delay didn’t disrupt the momentum of America’s hottest two man team.

Woods and Kuchar carried that same form over to Friday in the much more difficult alternating shot Foursomes format. The pair has five birdies in the first six holes, which is unheard of in Foursomes. That’s more common for a Four-ball best ball, but really hard to pull off when you’re playing just one ball and perhaps it’s a ball model you’re not used to.
A big reason for the lead is Tiger’s putter, which has been on point. After a lengthy rain delay, Woods didn’t miss a beat on the dampened Muirfield Village greens, rolling in a moderate-length birdie to expand their lead to 2-up thru six holes.
Woods has been pretty demonstrative all week with his partner, but this time he gave us a patented Jack Nicklaus putter sweep as the ball went dead-center:
Amazingly, the lead is only 2-up because Charl Schwartzel and Lous Oosthuizen went blow-for-blow at the start of what has been an incredible match early on.
