‘Fresh Prince’ reunion for Tiger Woods, Matt Kuchar in 2013 World Challenge pairings

The final game on the PGA Tour’s silly season will kick off on Thursday in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and it’s clear that the Tiger Woods Foundation official in charge of the Northwestern Mutual World Challenge tee sheet has a keen sense of what will make for entertaining viewing.

Woods, who’s the official host of the annual gala starring 17 of the world’s top players, will traipse up and down the fairways of Sherwood Country Club in the opening round with his good pal, the Fresh Prince of Sea Island (Ga.), Matt Kuchar.

When last we saw the odd couple together, they were going 3-1 as a team at the Presidents Cup and celebrating every birdie they canned with a dorky high-five move straight out of the “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” playbook.

Wonder if the two, playing opponents this week instead of partners, have anything special cooked up for their farewell to Sherwood, as the World Challenge will move to Florida next year? Woods-Kuchar will tee off at 10:25 a.m. local time.

The Woods-Kuchar duo may have to pull something really special out of their golf caps to outshine whatever shenanigans Jason Dufner and Keegan Bradley have planned. No doubt still on a high over his alma mater’s stunning, time-expiring, Internet-exploding win over Alabama to make it to the SEC football championship, and peeved about Woods’ refusal to reschedule his event to accommodate viewing of the big game on Saturday, Duf will go out in the final pairing with his Twitter chum, Keegan Bradley.

Dufner, whose social-media relationship with Bradley went viral after he lost the 2011 PGA Championship in a playoff to the PGA Tour rookie, who helped spread the “Dufnering” Internet sensation, joked with Woods on Twitter about squeezing his tourney into two 36-hole rounds.

Bradley’s homage to the Dufman after holing out for an eagle at the Tour Championship was, of course, an instant classic and had the normally stoic Auburn man in stitches.

Other pairings of note on Thursday include boom babies Dustin Johnson with Bubba Watson at 10:36 a.m.; grizzled vet Steve Stricker with Rookie of the Year Jordan Spieth at 10:14 a.m.; and defending champ Graeme McDowell first out of the gate at 9:30 a.m. with Australian Open winner, Northern Irish countryman, and former Horizon Sports Management stablemate Rory McIlroy.

Should Dufner decide to sit out Saturday’s round in the no-cut affair, by the way, a certain two-time major champion would be pleased to stand in for him.
