2013 World Challenge: Tee times, pairings for Friday’s round

Zach Johnson leads a pack of all-star golfers, including Tiger Woods, after shooting 5-under at the 2013 World Challenge on Thursday. He’ll go off in the final pairing Friday with Matt Kuchar.

The opening round tee times sheet for the 2013 World Challenge featured several pairings set with some lighthearted fun in mind. On Friday, it’s back to business. Zach Johnson shot 5-under Thursday to take the lead atop the leaderboard, and will pair with Matt Kuchar, who sits in second place at 4-under. They will go off as the last pairing of the day at 1:58 p.m. ET (10:58 a.m. in Thousand Oaks, Calif.).

Just behind Johnson and Kuchar are Hunter Mahan and Bubba Watson at 2-under, and Tiger Woods at 1-under. Woods will be paired with Graeme McDowell, who stared down and bested Tiger at this event in 2010 and then won it again last year. Those two are teeing off at 1:36 p.m ET. Jason Day and Jordan Spieth shot 4-over and 5-over, respectively, and will do the honors of teeing off the second round Friday at 12:30 p.m.

Woods’ first round got off to a rough start. He bogeyed the first hole, a par 4, to fall back from the pack. He did not bogey the rest of the day, however, and hit birdie on Nos. 5 and 11 to stay in contention. He still has significant ground to make up on Johnson, however. Johnson made seven birdies on the day, and was on track to finish at 6-under if not for a bogey on No. 18.
