Vijay Singh could tee it up with Gary Mule Deer at Pebble Beach

Vijay Singh is listed as a participant in this week’s Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, as is comedian/musician Gary Mule Deer. Really.

Vijay Singh is still listed as a participant in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, despite withdrawing from last week’s WM Phoenix Open. So how great would it be if the admitted user of a certain deer extract were paired with a “celebrity” who goes by the name of Gary Mule Deer?

Mule Deer (born Gary Miller, according to Wikipedia -- so you know it’s true), a comedian and country singer, is among the 30 not-so-much A-listers who’ll play in this year’s -am portion of the tournament.

Singh cited a bad back as his reason for skipping the fun at TPC Scottsdale. At the time of his recusal, however, the 49-year-old 34-time PGA Tour winner was at the center of a controversy involving his dalliance with l’eau de Bambi, which contains an ingredient on the tour’s list of banned substances.

By way of introduction to the performer, his website states that, “A Gary Mule Deer performance is like watching Johnny Cash and Keith Richards getting drunk with Jack Benny.” We have no idea what that means, but here’s hoping we get to see a Singh-Mule Deer sighting sometime this week.
