Shawn Stefani is still the leader at the 2013 Tampa Bay Championship through two rounds, although he didn’t quite match his stellar performance from Thursday.
2013 Tampa Bay Championship scores: Shawn Stefani maintains lead
While he didn’t have the stellar round that he did on Thursday, Stefani held on to the lead at the 2013 Tampa Bay Championship.

After surging to the lead with a 65 in the first round, Stefani kept the lead with a 70 on Friday. Stefani, 31, is a PGA Tour rookie but hasn’t looked like one so far, knocking in nine birdies and just two bogeys through the first 36 holes of the tournament at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Beach, Fla.
He did lose some of the lead that he built in the first round, though, as Australian golfer Adam Scott finished with a 66 on Friday to climb 12 spots on the leaderboard and into a tie for second. Tied with Scott is K.J. Choi of South Korea, who started his day on Friday with an eagle on the par-five first hole.
The round of the day came from Erik Compton, who matched Stefani’s Thursday score of 65 with six birdies and 12 pars to make up for a poor 75 score in the first round. The strong recovery launched Compton 101 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 13th, five strokes behind Stefani for the tournament lead.
Tee times for Saturday’s third round will be announced in full on the PGA Tour website.
