Arnold Palmer Invitational scores 2013: Bill Haas surges to a tie for the lead

There’s a tie at the top of the Arnold Palmer Invitational leaderboard after Bill Haas earned a share of the lead with the best score of the day on Friday, knocking down four birdies and an eagle to move in to a tie with Justin Rose at 9-under-par for the tournament.

Rose entered the day as the tournament leader after he shot an impressive 65 on Thursday, but his day wasn’t as flawless on Friday, as he settled for bogeys on two of the final five holes. His pedestrian 70 score evaporated his two-stroke lead and gave Haas a chance to grab a share of the top spot.

Tiger Woods was among the leaders earlier in the day after knocking down three birdies and an eagle on hole six; however, he fell to a tie for seventh after he finished with bogeys on each of the final three holes on Friday. He didn’t lose any ground overall, though, as his score of 70 tied Rose and kept him five strokes off the lead.

Haas had similar struggles with the final holes on Thursday, but finished without a bogey on Friday and even knocked in an eagle on hole 16. The native of North Carolina finished the day six-under par and moved to nine-under par for the tournament.

“Lefty,” meanwhile, had less fortune. Phil Mickelson missed the cut, shooting 7-over-par 79. A triple-bogey on his fourth hole of the day seemed to set the pace.
