Tiger Woods still looking for swing improvements at 2013 Masters

Tiger Woods took to the Masters press conference pulpit on Tuesday and answered questions related to his game. Surprisingly, Woods feels his swing isn’t quite “clicking” yet.

If you know anything about Tiger Woods’ golf game, you know he’s gone through numerous swing changes in his career. At Tuesday’s Masters press conference, Woods admitted that he feels his swing can still get better ... despite having won three times in 2013 already.

When asked the assumptive question that his swing has finally “clicked,” Woods suggested it’s done anything but.

“I don’t think it has,” Woods said. “We’re still always messing with things; golf’s fluid. We’re always trying to get a little bit better somehow and refine it. There’s always room for refinement and that will never change.”

Perhaps what has changed for Woods, however, is his level of confidence at this point in the season.

“I’m pleased at the progress I’ve made with Sean (Foley) and the things we’ve done,” he stated. “The confidence comes from being able to do it on the range first, then being able to do it at Medalist back home, then come out here and do it consistently. I’ve started to do it and the wins have piled up the last couple years.”

This is the 19th Masters for Tiger in his career, which should make all of us feel exceptionally old. When asked what it would mean for him to win this week:

“It would be nice. We have an opportunity to play 30 years solidly at a high level. We have very expansive careers and I feel like I’m right in the middle of mine. I have a lot of good years ahead of me and I’m excited about this week.”

This is also the first time Tiger has been the top-ranked player in the world leading into Augusta in a while, and a lot of that has to do with finally being healthy again.

“It was nice to get back to being ranked No. 1,” he said. “There are a lot of players who have tried to get there and haven’t been able to do it and I’ve been able to get there a few times throughout my career. To battle the injuries I’ve come through and get through all that and win enough golf tournaments and play consistently enough to get to that point is something I’m very proud of.

“I’m excited that at this point in my career that I’ve been able to get healthy and give myself another chance.”

In a lighthearted exchange with a reporter, Woods was asked if he would trade his world ranking for another major victory.

“Absolutely, are you kidding me?!”

Don’t ever change, Tiger.
