Isolated showers have been forming and moving close to Augusta International Golf Club where the first round of the Masters is underway. As of 4:30 p.m. ET, there were clusters of storms within 30 to 40 miles of the golf course. Many of these were passing by, but producing lightning within 20 miles of the course.

Storms will continue through the late afternoon and into the evening hours. It is possible that one of these storms or cluster of storms, moves over Augusta International Golf Club before the final pairings have a chance to finish their round.

The worst of the weather with strong storms, some potentially severe, will arrive late tonight across Augusta, Ga. A line of strong to severe storms could cross the eastern part of Georgia between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. tonight into Friday morning.

Friday’s forecast features some lingering showers and storms in the morning. This could affect the early tee times Friday morning. By midday and early afternoon the showers and storms will clear out, with more sunshine. It will be breezy with west winds between 10 and 20 mph, and an afternoon high temperature in the upper 70s.

The rest of the weekend for the final two rounds of the Masters looks great. The forecast is calling for sunny to mostly sunny skies, and afternoon high temperatures near 80 degrees.
