Masters 2013: Tiger Woods moves into a tie for 3rd

Tiger Woods is off to a solid start in the second round of the Masters as he’s moved up the leaderboard and is now tied for third place.

Woods wasn’t necessarily sharp to open his round, but managed to come away with par on each of the first four holes. He had some issues with his approach shots early, leaving a couple of difficult par saves. After salvaging par early on, Woods moved into the red for the round on No. 5.

Following a solid drive down the right side of the fairway, Woods hit his approach shot to about 25-feet. The difficult green proved to be no challenge as Woods sunk the long birdie putt. He had a similar situation on No. 6 as his approach shot once again left him with a long birdie opportunity. His putt ran by the hole leaving him a short tap in for his fifth par in six holes. The seventh hole proved to be much of the same, as his approach left a long birdie opportunity. Once again, Woods’ putter came to the rescue as he sunk the long, breaking putt for his second birdie of the day. He is now 2-under for the round and 4-under for the tournament.

Woods hit four greens in regulation over his first seven holes, including his last three. He’s yet to have a birdie putt shorter than 20 feet, but has been able make two long putts and avoid any setbacks. The course is playing significantly more difficult than Thursday, making any score under-par an excellent result.
