You will not see a bounce as unlucky as this for a while. Tiger Woods left himself in perfect position after laying up -- he hit his tee shot into the pinestraw and had to leave himself a wedge into the par-5 15th. His wedge game has been on, though, and he had a great look at the pin.

This was an incredibly unlucky shot for Tiger Woods, turning a sure-fire birdie into a bogey.
In fact, his look was too great. It was so good that Tiger hit the pin, which is something a golfer never wants -- either fly the flag or dunk it, but never hit it. Then this happened.

It’s been said before that when Tiger’s wedges are on he has to be told to aim away from pins. His distance control allows him to nail things to within inches, and that can lead to moments like Friday on 15, when he hit the dang flag.
He took his one-shot penalty and dropped, sticking his approach to within three feet at least. But had that ball not hit the pin, it had a chance to spin back close, leaving him a kick-in birdie, or even drop for a hole-out eagle.
But hey, Tiger’s wedges are on point. And now he’s angry.
Update: He escaped with a bogey, which is a pretty great result all things considered.
