McIlroy finished Friday with birdies on holes 16, 17 and 18 to climb up the leaderboard.

The new leader of the tournament is Billy Horschel, who recovered from two bogeys in the first four holes to knock in six birdies and eight pars in the last 14 to take over the top spot at eight strokes under par.
