Rory McIlroy only has five PGA Tour events on his resume for 2013, but after finishing second at the Valero Texas Open, the world’s No. 2 ranked player climbed 92 spots up the FedEx Cup standings. McIlroy is now 30th on the list with 427 total points this year.
FedEx Cup standings 2013: Rory McIlroy, Martin Laird make huge jumps
The top two finishers from this weekend’s Valero Texas Open climbed way up the 2013 FedEx Cup standings. No one was able to crack the top 10, though. Surely the higher-ups will move around at The Masters.

He still has quite a way to go to reach the top, though. Tiger Woods remains in control of first place with 1,605 points after three wins in just five tournaments played. None of the top 10 players in the standings moved this week.
Martin Laird, the winner of the Valero Texas Open, moved to No. 18 overall after capturing 500 points for his victory at TPC San Antonio. Billy Horschel came close to cracking the top 10 after placing third in Texas. He now sits at No. 12 in total points.
Expect plenty of movement after the final round of The Masters. First place at Augusta earns a 600-point gain. Woods appears to be the front-runner right now, but McIlroy may be surging at the right time.
