Like every other tournament through the first four months of the 2013 PGA Tour Season, weather has now interrupted Saturday’s golf at the 2013 Players Championship. Just after 4 p.m. ET, the horn at the Stadium Course of TPC Sawgrass was blown and the players were taken off the course, transported in golf carts to the clubhouse.
Storms force weather delay during Saturday’s round at The Players Championship
The horn has blown at TPC Sawgrass as Tiger and Sergio are taken off the course just six holes into their third round.
Typically, when they take the players to the clubhouse, the PGA Tour anticipates a lengthier delay as opposed to a quick passing storm. The thunder started to rumble in the distance with the final pairing of Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia just six holes into their round. About 10 minutes after the first sign of thunder, the officials sounded the horn. Here’s an image of the approaching skies, via Rex Hoggard of Golf Channel:

The course was hammered with rain in the days leading up to the tournament, as the course took on more than 10 inches of rain that waterlogged the famous island green at No. 17. If the course is hit with more rain, it will soften up the greens even more and could lead to even lower numbers over the final day and a half.
***UPDATE -- 4:45 p.m. ET -- Brian Wacker of PGATour.com relays that the Tour’s meteorologist says it could be a two-hour delay, and rules official Mark Russell says “we’re going to be down awhile.”
Woods and Garcia are now one shot back of Henrik Stenson, the 2009 winner of this event. Tiger momentarily held the outright lead after a birdie on No. 2, but a three-put on the very next hole dropped him back to even-par for the day. He’s stayed there since that bogey, battling misses off the tee and some spotty play around the green, including a flubbed chip shot at No. 6. Tiger made par with a lengthy saving putt to stay one shot back. Here’s the current leaderboard around Woods as they wait for play to resume:
| Score | Player | Thru |
| -11 | Henrik Stenson | 7 |
| -10 | Sergio Garcia | 5 |
| -10 | Tiger Woods | 5 |
| -9 | Jeff Maggert | F |
