Kuchar shot a 65 in each of the first two rounds and is one stroke ahead of Jordan Speith, who moved to 10-under overall after a 2-under start through three holes on Saturday.
Hunter Mahan and Angel Cabrera own the best scores of the third round thus far. Both golfers are 4-under on the day through 11 holes and are tied for ninth place at 7-under for the tournament.
Steve Flesch and Graham DeLaet are locked in a third-place tie at 9-under, and Jonas Blext, Matt Every, Chris Kirk and Freddie Jacobson are knotted in fifth place at 8-under.
