Tiger Woods continues to be the heavy favorite to win the 2013 U.S. Open at the Merion Golf Club, though the odds for who might finish in second place are pretty crowded behind the fan favorite. The major doesn’t tee off until Thursday morning, but Woods leads the pack pretty comfortably with 9/2 odds. Rory McIlroy is one of a few golfers vying for second in the odds as he dropped in line with Adam Scott, Graeme McDowell, Matt Kuchar and Phil Mickelson at 20/1 when the latest predictions were released.

Vegas is ready to crown Tiger Woods the winner this weekend, but there is plenty of stiff competition vying for a title in the 113th edition of the U.S. Open.

Mickelson’s showing at the St. Jude Classic helped raise his stock a bit as he rode a strong third day to finish second in the classic at 10-under overall, but Lefty has an uphill battle to top Woods -- who is back as the world’s top ranked golfer after a two-plus year absence.
Even though the heavily-favored Woods seems to have a solid hold on the course title, he’ll need to prove his mettle early alongside a couple of other favorites as McIlroy and Scott are paired together with Woods for the first two rounds of the U.S. Open.
