Tiger Woods is back on the course for his second round of the 2013 U.S. Open and thus far he’s been unable to make up any ground on the leaders.

Woods notched a birdie on his third hole of the second round to move to 2-over overall, but gave it back with a bogey on the next hole. Woods has hit the ball well off the tee and he’s had a number of birdie opportunities early, he just hasn’t been able to roll enough in. Putting has been an issue for Woods thus far, as Emily Kay detailed.
He missed 20-foot birdie putts on No. 11 and No. 12 before rolling in a birdie on the 13th. Woods missed a six-foot par putt on No. 14 leading to his first bogey of the round. It was more of the same on No. 15 and No. 16 as approach shots left Woods with long birdie tries, both of which were just off. He was able to salvage a par on No. 17 after an errant tee shot.
While Woods has been unable to get into the red in the second round, he’s been able to navigate the most difficult stretch of Merion without any damage. Woods is just below the projected cut line of 4-over, but he may be able to make up some ground when he heads to the easier front nine.
