U.S. Open streaming 2013: How to watch Saturday’s round online

The U.S. Open heads to the weekend and streaming options will increase with more than seven hours of live golf available via the Internet on Saturday.

The 2013 U.S. Open continues on Saturday and viewers will be able to stream the majority of the third round online. Online streaming was limited during the first two rounds, but that won’t be the case on Saturday.

After splitting television coverage with ESPN during the first two rounds, NBC will broadcast the third round alone. As a result, nearly eight hours of live golf will be simulcast online via the Golf Live Extra stream. NBC won’t be the only option for an online stream as USOpen.com will also have live video of a marquee group available on Saturday. Saturday’s marquee group features Sergio Garcia, Rickie Fowler and Robert Karlsson.

Viewers will also be able to access the stream on iPad, iPhone or Android mobile devices. The U.S. Open released an official app through iTunes and the Google Play Store which includes live video as well as scoring, statistics and other features. The app is free to download.

The array of streams will give viewers multiple options to watch what shapes up to be an entertaining third round. Despite predictions of record-low scores, the Merion Golf Club got the best of the players on the first two days. With very little rain in the forecast, it figures to only get more difficult as the course continues to dry up. While the rough is long and thick, the greens posed possibly the biggest challenge through the first two rounds. They could get even harder if the lack of rain makes them faster over the weekend.

For an idea of how challenging the greens were on Friday, Billy Horschel hit all 18 greens in regulation, but came away with just four birdies. A number of players -- including Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods -- have carded multiple three-putt bogeys this week.

Here’s a closer look at Saturday’s online streaming schedule and the TV and radio schedules for the third round.
