U.S Open golf 2013 cut line: Big names on watch with a projected cut line of 8-over

The second round resumes at 7:15 a.m. ET on Saturday and more than a few notable players will begin the day on the cut line.

Bubba Watson, Adam Scott and Matt Kuchar were able to finish their second rounds on Friday, but they won’t know if they are sticking around for the weekend until after the second round concludes on Saturday. All three are 7-over through two rounds with the cut line currently projected at 8-over.

The top 60 players, plus ties, will make the U.S. Open cut and Watson, Scott and Kuchar are among the group currently tied for 53rd place. When play was suspended on Friday, 68 players were still on the course, leaving enough golf left to play to significantly impact the cut line. Of the 34 players currently at either 7- or 8-over, 15 still have holes to play. If course conditions prove to be easier in the morning, a few of those players could move up on the leaderboard, leaving Watson, Scott, Kuchar and others on the outside looking in.

On the other side, if Merion proves to be an even bigger test on Saturday morning than it was Friday, a few notable players could play themselves out of the weekend. Tim Clark is 8-over through 17 holes. He’s now tasked with avoiding bogey on the very difficult 18th or he’ll risk playing himself out of the weekend. Aaron Baddeley and Boo Weekley will also resume play on Saturday morning at 8-over and on the edge of the cut line.

The second round resumed at 7:15 a.m. ET. Once play concludes (approximately 9:45 a.m.), the cut line will be established.
